What is the best way to remove a mildew smell from the carpet. Useing household products? The radiator leaked on the carpet and the living room smeels like mildew. I do not have time to go to a supply house. Any sugestion?

You have to get the carpet dry first. That is the odour.

Might want to look under the carpet, things like subfloor and pad may be "growing"

I cleaned the carpets, and then I pulled up the carpets the foam padding was wet so I removed it, under the padding the plywood was soaked. I dried the carpets and put baking soda all over the carpet. Then I just left the plywood exposed with fans blowing on it overnight.
