I have a Ninja Portable and wondering how does everyone drain there units when upstairs? Is there a way to drain the unit into a tub or something? I believe that I am missing something in my novice carpet cleaning experience. Is there a drain hose that I can purchase or does everyone simply leave the machine downstairs and attach a long hose tor each upstairs? I usually just take my machine out back and let it drain into the yard. That is probably wrong, too.
Help. |

Years of carpet cleaning has taught me that using extra hoses and leaving your machine on the main floor is the way to go...why risk the health of your back hauling the machine up and down the stairs?
I always dump my dirty water down the clients toilet...just make sure not to leave the toilet looking dirty when you leave. |

1) How do you get it into the toilet? Is there a drain hose that I am missing? Oops, I think I just figured it out. I called a local supply house and they told me to simply drain it in a bucket. So simple. I feel stupid! 2) Don't I lose pressure if I have such a long run of hoses? Also, they told me 50' should be OK! |

This is completely the wrong way. At first keep the carpet cleaner on the ground floor & attach long hose pipes to it. It's the good idea to flow all the dirty water in the toilet. Just flush it. I suggest you to buy Rotovac Powerwand, if you dislike Ninja.

No, I love my Ninja. You misunderstood. I was trying to find a simple way to drain it upstairs. I have been dragging it back downstairs and draining it in my back yard. The easier way I just found out was to drain it in a bucket and pour it down the toilet. That's what I'm gonna do from now on. My home is too large that I would need over 50' of Jose to get all of the upstairs' rooms. Thanks! |

Foolingyu has it figured out not to haul the portable up the stairs. She went a step further and bought a Rotovac 360i and really saved her back & bones.

Good Plan John.
If the Ninja has the more powerful 3 stage vacs in it 50 ft is not going to be a problem Even 75' can be done with good results. The normal 2 - 2 stage model that most cleaners have will also do 50 ft. But understand that recovery will be reduced. Compensate for this by doing an extra drying pass on the carpet to remove more water. At least until you get back to 25 ft of hose. |

I have the dual 2-stage with heat. I can only use ONE stage at the moment until I take it in to the shop to see why my second stage sparks and arcs electricity when I turn it on.

Most likely a defective vac motor IMO. Just replace it with a new one . Should cost you less than $200.00 to do that. If the old one costs less than $50 to fix, fix it. Probably needs the brushes replaced on the armiture. If it is more serious than that, throw it away and buy a spare motor instead. You should always have a spare vac motor and pump anyway. The loss to your reputation if it breaks down on the job and you can't fix it right away will cost you far more, not to mention the loss of income from down time. |

With that Mytee, Shazaam and Cross-American and my Rotovac, I run 50' to the Rotovac, thinking about doubling that. I got so much vacuum that sometimes I have China emptying into the extractor.
