jtuseo,
Benefect 100% Natural Disinfectant seems to be the front runner these days and you and your customers can be comfortable with it. Non-toxic and friendly. But my feeling is no one can be positively sure if they get all the mold with the sprayers that were currently available...until now.
Can you get the spray into every nook & cranny manually?
That's why we have introduced the Magnet Spray Air-Assisted Electrostatic Spraying System. Edited by Carpetologist - 25/July/2006 at 7:48pm |

To prevent mould you must remove the conditions that inhibit its growth.
They are moisture, heat, darkness, something to feed on and lack of water activity (stagnant water).
Killing mould is another story, killing mould is not enough, it must be removed.

LNR is 100% correct in saying removal is essencial, first you must stop the source of the intrusion, then remove all associated furnishings, clean any hard surfaces with dilluted javex, sand any wood that is affected, remove affected carpets and pad. (cleaning carpets is seldom effective), what you see on the surface is usually the tip of the iceberg. Don`t forget, there are many types of mould that are toxic, wear a mask and setup a containment area if it is extensive, hepa filtered air scrubber exhausted outside to create a (-) air pressure within containment...if the mould is black it may become airbourne very easily and spread all over the house. then it gets really expensive.. Good Luck!

In that case, don't you need a mold remediation specialist? At least here in California, they're very strict about that sort of thing.

Hold on to your hat!
$5,000.00 Canadian, but remember a 70% chemical savings + 100% coverage. This is more for the Flood & Fire guy or someone specializing in Deodorization.
It would also do a great job covering all the carpet fibers when Scotchgarding.

Your right Steamer, you have to get rid of anything it is in contact with, harmful mould is measured in air quality, the staccibotris mould (black mould) is the indicator that it is present. Remediation is deemed effective when AQ levels are acceptable, these tests are done by a certified hygenist., In Canada there are various certifications that are acceptable for mould remediation, IICRC is fine for insurance companies, but the gov`t wants a bit more, WESA for mould and aspestos is required for most gov`t work. Kool avitar steamer!!

You can get rid of the mould that is visible, however the airbourne contaminant that you cannot see is the problem, ie:if a basement floods, we remove the pad, carpet, and install fans, dehumedifiers etc, what about all the cavities that we don`t see? between joists, between floor/ceiling plates, and much more, even if we remove the drywall, the mould spores could have contaminated much more of the house., through the duct system or however.

MOLD EXTRACTION. If only it was that easy. Eradacation is what you want. there are way too many steps to cover in this thread. It is expensive but you may consider a AMRT seminar just to learn the basics but it is expensive. Or go to the library and read and read and read.
